Family and Friends 〽️💯 Week 7

Well everybody,

It's been another killer week here in the Last Frontier.
Alaska is getting hotter and hotter and it seems as if the sun never
goes down. It's strange I almost don't remember what it's like to be
outside in the dark with just the moon. Lots of animals everywhere and
everything is so green.

The people up her are crazy but they make it fun.  It seems like they either go to a
church;  (and there are tons of churches). There is one called Church on the Rock
and they basically have a band play for their services. I kind of want to check it out;
Or they smoke weed,  It's Crazy.. Haha so many people up here just out in the
open but it's legal so nobody cares.  But its kind of strange though for this
Utah kid.

I met this super cool guy named dimitri and he's Russian and he has
this sweet accent. We talked to him for about 45 minutes and he seems
super interested and Asked if he could have my Book of Mormon I was
carrying and I said absolutely not.... Jk that's why have them anyway
I'm not funny but the work is getting busy. All me and my comp do is
go knocking doors or we go to the park and show up kids on the courts
in our church cloths and then we share a message of course.

Alaska is awesome and I'm starting to feel so much better. I've
actually opened up and have made friends with my comp and other
missionaries and life is good. I still miss all the you guys back home
a lot and think about you all a lot. Wishing you guys a good week

Love your favorite missionary😉

Family and Friends 〽️💯 Week #6

Everybody,

Well this week was pretty gnarly. We had our first baptism with one of our investigators, but it's not that impressive because she's the bishops wife best friend and well she has been coming to church for like the last four years and basically finally decided to get
baptized. We set up an appointment and went over the lessons and she already knew everything. She's basically the most golden investigator you can get. Still a miracle though.

Also we got another online referral with and address so me and my Comp went and checked it out and of course nobody was home. We went back like 10 different times and nothing. Then yesterday day she just showed up at church. And now we have a lesson with her Thursday. I mean it's just funny cause we were basically handed her information and we couldn't get a hold of her. Heavenly Fathers probably thinking these Idiots and had to place her at the chapel for us to get in contact. Just kidding, moral of the story have faith and miracles happen😉

My comp showed me this sweet pump up song when I get down and don't want to do missionary work. So now I blast it and it's pretty sick. I'll attach it below. Also lots of moose the other day I was doing my studies and a moose walked past the window. Like I could have literally reached out and touched him. On another note I experienced my first Earth Quake which was pretty rad. I didn't know what was going on at first cause I had my head on my desk cause I was catching a quick nap and my desk started shaken. First I thought it was Elder Frey waking me up so I was a little mad. Then I look up and everything was shaking. It only lasted like 5 seconds but it was crazy. Apparently it happens all the time soooo... Wish me luck⚡️!! I  miss all of you guys so much and can't even explain the love have for all of you. Know I pray for each of you like all the time. So I wouldn't mind if you throw a prayer my way cause the lord knows I need them.. I struggle a lot out here, but I know I'm spreading good and helping others and that's the focus that keeps me going also I came across D&C 121:7-9. Which gave me great comfort.

Love you all so much
and hope you have an amazing week!!!✌️
Kindest Regards,

Elder, Kayden M. Gentry

Family and Friends Week 5

Well another week has come and gone up here in Alaska. Life is crazy and the mission is even crazier.  The other day we were walking and this guy was walking by so I waved and smiled and he stuck two fingers up and told me he hated me for no other reason than I had a Book of Mormon. People are crazy.  So yea that happened.

On the other hand I met the cuppy cake kid, who is a kid that made a viral video. It had like 85 million views. He was on the Tyra banks show and everything and it just so happens that he is in my ward he is 16 years old but looks 8 years old.

The work is good we meet with quite a few people and just try to stay busy. Many people are rude and slam doors but I guess that just comes with the part. I just need to continue to work hard and the lord will bless me.

Just want to tell all you guys how much you mean to me and that I love all of you so very much.  Hope everything is good and if you guys need anything that I can help with I'm an email away!!

Love always,

Elder Gentry

Another One! Week 4!!

Well family and friends,

I've made it to the great state of Alaska, or
the Last Frontier as they like to call it. Alaska is amazing and I'm
excited to finally be in the field and get to work based on everything
I've learned over the course of time I spent at the MTC. I am trying
to keep my head up and dive into the work. I have such great support.
I just miss all of you back home so much and hope the best for your
guys. Plus my comp got sick so we were stuck in the apartment for 2
days with absolutely nothing to do but read scriptures.  It was rough
let's say I caught up on some much needed sleep.

My companions name is Elder Frey and he's super missionary and is
always and ready to work. Which can be a struggle because he jumps out
of bed at 6:30 and I tend to lounge for a bit and makes me feel bad,
but I'm not him haha. He's a super good example and very good trainer.
I'm blessed to have him and excited for the time to come.

Alaska..... Is amazing, so beautiful in every way. The mountains
remind me a lot of Utah and then of course there is the ocean which is
sweet. The craziest thing I saw or at least I thought was crazy there
was a huge moose just chillin out about 15-20 feet from our front door
and it was insane. He just laid out and sat there forever. Also the
sun is pretty sweet. It'll be 11:30-12:00 and the sky is still lit
with light and it looks like it's 4 or 5 o'clock, super crazy.

Being a missionary is the hardest thing that I have ever done, but I
know that it will be worth it. I know that as I continue to put the
work ahead of my own personal feelings, some day I will be so very
grateful. I want you guys to know that I love you guys and am always
praying for you. Just don't forget about your favorite missionary up
here. Cause I always think of all you amazing people in the Lower 48
😜
