I'm in my Element 💯 Week #45 February 27, 2017

Hey

So this week has been pretty crazy. I dropped Elder Parks off on
Tuesday and he headed to Palmer and got started in his new area. I was
with Elder Davis for the day and we had a good time and tried to stay
productive...

Wednesday we went to the chapel and received some trainings and that's
when I got my new Companion. His name is Elder Bauers. He is 24 and is
from spirit Lake Idaho. Which is about 2 hours south of the Canadian
Border. He is super cool and we are hopefully going to be having a lot
of fun here in the Airport Heights area.

Wednesday I also got to go to the Temple which was really cool. I got
to go with on of my first Zone Leaders, Elder Shurtz, he just went
home last week and it was a cool experience to go with him. I love
that guy he is such a good guy with a big heart. He helped me a lot in
the beginning of my mission.

The rest of the week we have been super busy and have been doing lots
of good work and having lots of lessons which is good for Elder
Baures. I feel like we spend a lot of time in the apartment doing all
the extra studies that come with training which I don't necessarily
enjoy, but it does us both a lot of good on helping us to become
better.

They had the big Fur Ronda festival the other night and we went and
tried to talk to as many people as we could. It was kind of
intimidating because there was just so many people. We did get to talk
to a lot cool people and heard some cool stories. We also saw some
pretty cool sculptures and I snagged a few pics. The festival was for
the Iditarod races that are starting up next week and we are going to
be doing service so that will be cool.

So everybody keeps asking me what it's like to be training a new
missionary and honestly it just feels like I have a new companion.
That's it and maybe that's good haha. It's nice to have a little
change up here cause I'm locked down here for another 3 months which
is awesome. I'm excited though because the work is good.

My brother Jordan goes home from his mission in like 2 days.  Blows my
mind how quickly time has gone by. So shout out to him for completing
his mission. Hope he has a lot of fun in the next couple of days he
deserves it. As for me I will serve the lord for another 14 months
baby!!

Well everyone I hope you all have a good week, I know all my family
will with the long waited return of my brother. Haha I'm jealous but
it's all good. Love you all have a blessed time!!

🙌Never Had A Chance, So I Had to Go Make One ☝️ Week #44 2/20/2017

Hey Fam,

Hey everyone so it's been another awesome week here in Alaska. This
has been a pretty busy week full of excitement and it felt good.

So on Wednesday we got to go the temple. I honestly love going to the
temple! Especially the Alaska Anchorage Temple. Seriously my favorite
Temple, but that's probably a little bias...

On Thursday we had this huge zone Conference with 6 of the 8 zones.
There were so many missionaries. We also had Elder Ian S. Ardern of
the seventy. It was such a cool opportunity to be able to talk and
shake the hand of a man like him. Also I took a lot of insight from
him and am applying to myself personally and the work here in Alaska.

Friday is the day things started turning up... so we got Transfer
calls and Elder Parks is leaving to the Palmer Zone and I'm staying
here and am going to be getting a new Missionary and I'm super
excited. This will be my first companion that will be younger than me
missionary age wise. I feel a little nervous I don't find out who he
is until I'm in the same room as him on Wednesday. It will be crazy.
Then I actually get to go through the temple again with him so I'm
excited for that.  This will be a new learning and growing experience
for both of us and I'm excited.

The service at the Kids Kitchen threw us a little going away party and
that was cool they bought us a cake and got us these Alaska pins.
Honestly love those people that work there. They are awesome. Glad I
am staying and will be able to keep doing service there haha.

One of my mission buddies, Elder Leland got a sick video of a moose
and some sweet pictures so I'll have to send those out.

Anyway that's all I have to say, I hope that you have a sweet.

Got A Grip on the Situation😎 week #43

Hey Fam,

So this week has been really good. I have a had a really awesome time
here in the mountain view area of Anchorage. The transfers are ending
this week and I'm super nervous to see what happens. Both my companion
and I got the area at the same time so we don't know who is going to
be leaving. Plus a little birdie told me that Cordova is going to be
opening again so I'm crossing my fingers, but in reality two other
lucky missionaries will be going down there haha. So  keep me in your
prayers and let's hope for the best!

So something cool this week is we got to do service for the Iditarod,
which is the huge dog sled race in Alaska for those of you who don't
know what that is. We basically unloaded three semi trucks full of
straw for the dogs bedding. It was so tiresome. It reminded me of back
in the day bucking hay out on the farm ;) it was cool, they gave us
these super cool hats but I wasn't reppin mine in the pic :/

We saw a moose.... that's was cool. We were going to the church and
this big moose was just chillin in the parking lot so we decided to
chase it down for a minute which probably wasn't the smartest thing
but I only got the one really bad photo. It was sweet though.

So lately we have been teaching these 10 year old Sudanese girl named
Naideng. She is super smart and so ready for baptism. Her mom is a
less active member and we're hoping Naideng example will help the mom
with her testimony. We put her on date to be baptized on March 4 so
that is super exciting. Honestly love the glow that this girl has.
Just glad that I have had the opportunity to meet her. Hopefully I
will be here for her baptism!

So... nothing to crazy going on around here. I have been reading a
book called Jesus the Christ and man half of the stuff that comes out
of it goes right over my head..... just some really big words are used
I'm pretty sure I'm in the dictionary more than the actual book 📚 but
the book is super good. It tells about Christ and his life in like
extreme detail.

Well I love all of you people a lot and hope that you have a wonderful
Valentine's Day, At least I have an excuse to not have a valentine
this year, so that's good. Haha anyway everyone have a sweet week and
remember the important things, like family :)

ClearVisionsWithMyEyesClosed💯 Week #42

Friends and Family,

Well hello everyone out in the world..... so this week was pretty
boring so sorry if this email is a little short :/

So this week all of our investigators are progressing really well and
we are trying to commit them to coming to church. We had a lot of
people say that they were coming, but only 1 came. I guess you could
say we're sifting through those that are elect.😑

Soooo one cool thing we did this week was we did this service for the
homeless community and we basically were the security. The homeless
people came and basically ate food for the most part. As far as the
security goes nothing to crazy happened thank goodness because I'm not
really one for confrontation. There was for a second this drunk lady
we was going crazy, and swearing, but I avoided it so I don't know
what happened. We did get these swag vests that said safety patrol..
🚨

Last Tuesday I finally talked my comp into letting me cut his hair, I
kind of just went for it and it actually turned out pretty good. I
just tried to remember how my mom used to cut my hair. I have cut
three Elders hair since. I think it's pretty fun. I should start
charging these people for these cuts ✂️ but I am out here to serve
others so maybe when I get back follow in my moms steps and cut hair
to make that green 💰 p.s. In the picture at the bottom at the sushi
place I cut the two Elders hair that are sitting in the front, so tell
me what you think ;)

I don't know much else to say so I guess I will tell you about my
favorite meal, so we went to the Hartley and and we had dominoes pizza
and it was good I really just like the family though.. also the
knudsens took us to this dope Japanese sushi place and I had...
honestly don't even know what it was, I think something called
tempura, I don't know but it was pretty good. Then I had a fried
Twinkie and that was amazing.

So this week it was almost 40 degrees and it was super warm. All the
snow was melting and it was gross. So within like a week and a half it
went from -20 to 40 degrees, freakin nuts. Now it's back down to like
13. And it was snowing on Friday ❄️

Last Monday we went bowling and it was lit. I havnt bowled in a while.
Took me back to the days working at the bowling alley and going out
with my brother Bo and hitting the lanes everyday. I didn't do too
well haha I scored like a 130. It was a lot of fun though, my
companion showed everyone up, he was pretty good 😊

So today we are doing a rematch and also I'm going to go get my
haircut so hopefully that turns out well, I actually have to go pay
for mine, I don't trust anybody touching my hair haha I'll leave it to
the professionals, plus when you go to sports clips and they wash it
for you it's like the best feeling in the world, so I'm pretty pumped
for that lol.

Well so much for this email being short so I guess I'm not sorry, haha
well the mission life is the best and I'm living it up with some true
homies up here. Honestly so grateful for the opportunity I have to
serve especially in a place like ALASKA!!!

I hope you all have a great week and always remember to count your blessings

All love 💛
